Many people have started to switch from cable to online streaming services in an attempt to cut back on costs; however, the possibility of turning the cable box into a smart home hub is in discussion. The idea is that the cable box would be able to network IoT devices, making the TV capable of controlling tasks such as showing video camera feeds, turning off the oven, and turning down the thermostat. With the number of connected devices expected to double within the next five years, according to FTC reports, is seems essential that a device will need to be developed to connect all of them. Or maybe that device we need is the cable box which is already sitting in many people’s homes.
